1 day Spinnaker Clinic

This spinnaker clinic is focused on learning the basics of spinnaker handling, we will teach you the following:

• Spinnaker prep: How to rig it (set-up) lines, pack, and stow the spinnaker.
• How to launch an asymmetrical spinnaker with pole.
• Trimming the spinnaker properly
• Crew Communication
• How to gybe the spinnaker and pole
• How to douse the spinnaker properly                                                                                                             

Who should take this class?

Anyone that is interested in learning how launch or trim a spinnaker sail or learn to drive the boat downwind with the spinnaker up.

Prerequisite?

None, but we suggest anyone considering this course should have completed the US Sailing Basic Keelboat course or have sailing experience.

What will I learn?

You will learn how to handle an asymmetrical spinnaker to improve your skills of downwind sailing.  Cruising sailors and racing sailors alike should take this course because we show you how to properly rig, set, trim and douse spinnakers on any boat.

What will my day look like?

This is a 1-day clinic that runs from 9:00 am to 4:00pm.  We will spend some portion of our morning in the classroom learning about the spinnaker sail but most of the time will be spent on the water sailing our 23ft Sonar sailboats.

What should I bring?

Comfortable weather appropriate clothing, athletic shoes, and plenty of fluids to stay hydrated.  Lunch can be ordered from us or bring your own!  If you need anything else, give us a call and we can help.
